RESOURCES FOR RELIGIOUS TRAUMA SURVIVORS

Healing Should Never Be a Journey Taken Alone

Tragically, youre not imagining it. What happened wasn’t a fever dream. From confusion, trembling, and night sweats following every unanswered question. Visceral abandonment by those closest – even the God you once trusted with your immortal soul. That ache in unswept chambers of the heart? Its echo has a name…

Religious trauma is not about belief, rather ineffable betrayal. Treachery of a system that promised unconditional love, only to deliver transactional goods. Duplicity of those claiming to shepherd souls, choosing instead to feast upon scratching pleas. Betrayal of a sacred oath twisted into balled fists, then chained to a stake.

Yet here you are just as we stand hand-in-hand. Searching for something more. That isnt weakness – its resilience.

Healing is a lifelong journey, not a destination. It isn’t paved with half-hearted attempts or quick fixes. Restoration is lined with encouraging souls and resources reminding we’re neither crazy or alone. Not the only ones caught up in the snare of religious deceit. From books to support groups, trauma-informed therapists, survivor podcasts/platforms where your story doesn’t shock – these can be lifelines! Helping regulate growth within like-minded communities, entertaining questions toward broader consideration.

There is power in education. Naming that which was once unspeakable. Hope in discovering how others fared post unshackling, rebuilt their lives and reclaimed autonomy. While you need not trace their footprints, one might rest assured others have gone before. As for that proverbial glow at the end? It was never a load-bearing train, but new and glorious morn to horizons unknown…

Whether youre ready to engage with peer support, read the words of those who escaped similar systems, or simply need help finding a therapist versed in spiritual abuse – resources now exist. As the work of ReLOVution presses toward change, aforementioned materials/knowledge will continue to increase.

You deserve tools that empower, not re-traumatize. Conversations that welcome, not convert. Community that accepts you without requiring your submission. Where few heal by secular token, spiritual wounds cry for etherial salve.

This isn’t about replacing a faith of olde with new ideology. It’s about returning what locusts have stolen – the right to choose authentically, seeking truths which resonate with every fibre of your soul.

You were never starving for oxygen, only divine inspiration. Theres no shame in seeking help – be encouraged toward the next step.

“The road back to love is less lonely when survivors light candles along the way.”
